This is the park that's causing allot of controversy with BMXers at the moment. Brightwater Common in Randburg.
Although it hasnt been open very long it seems that the Joburg scene and any other rider who's been there since it opening is a little pissed that the park cant be ridden freely. No I dont mean by not paying for a session; i mean by being told what to and not to do. There's a few things going on in the Forum about this, so I will leave it up to you to check it out if you feel like it. Other than that looks like a fun place to seesion.

Thanks Jeff for submitting the photos.

So well yeah, I don't like when people take the piss, especially when it becomes a private joke...but yeah I got roots. I may not have the photo`s or the old riding shoes to represent but then again I wasnt taking photo`s when I was 8 years old. I didnt see you on the finish line in Lesotho circa 1987. Can you say Raleigh Burner 18" holmie?

Not much news to put up on the site this week; here`s a thing or 2 that might interest you:
You may have noticed that the
Catalog now has a new menu and another section added to it. The Soft Goods area is fully functional. Mesh Caps, Tshirts, Shoes, socks...its all there. Press F5 a couple of times if you feel like doing some shopping.

I just got word the Standpoint Video`s will be arriving shortly. They dont come out too often but they kill it everytime.
Number 6 was filmed in section features; Matt Berringer Backyard and Bio, Pual Horan section, The Bad Timing crew, Jesse Williams section, Street mix with Van Orman. The Bonus sectin is a killer too:
Bane Death Challenge, Animal Brooklyn Banks Jam, Transitions Jam, Shitluck Trip, Michigan check and the mandatory crash and outtakes sections.
DL a clip here and check out the Standpoint videozine website while you wait.

I recently felt the need to try out some wider bars on my rig. So instead of looking at a another new set of bars (I recently bought some Revenge 4pc bars) i opted to have my old KGB Sarvets welded up..

I took the bars and 2 short 1" off cuts down to the local welder and he did a fine job indeed; didnt even charge me for it, stoked! The bars now 27" wide opposed to 25" as before. If it ever stops raining i might just go give em a go. Moral of the story, never cut too much!

I hooked up one of those new KMC Super Lite chains on my bike today. Whoa baby!
Although I don't recommend it for riders with pegs it should be good for some light street and park and flatland ofcourse.. The inner plates are however very thin and the pins look really light weight.
When I split one of the links to get it to size for my driver/ sprocket; getting the pin out was no easy task....the pins have a mushroomed head; and because its hollow it flares out a little when you try push it through with a tool. So go easy if you going to be installing this yerself. If you got a few extra bucks when you buy your next chain give one of these a go. You save around 30 grams. R160 each.

Here`s a few more shady photo's....
The new slimmer and lighter Kink Lite clamp R100 each,
Kink Bullet canvas belt at R150 each and the crazy crazy KMC Kool 710sl chain. Hollow pins and punched plates, thats insane! R150 each.

A little late for back to school sales...here's a few up close photo`s of the Fit Bike Co. back pack. There are so many pockets in there it will be hard to run out of space. There`s plenty room for books and school stuff and you could even sneak your helmet in there too for those after school sessions at the park. Word.
Some specs:
Big ass zippers that wont mess up, water proof, plenty pockets and compartments, reinforced stitching and a load of support straps and clips. R340 a pop.

Click on the thumbnails below for enlargements of each.
