Phil Norton aka Mcbill leaves for the U.K tomorrow, he's going over on a riding/ working holiday and will be hooking up with Somerset West buddy Konstant. Phil will be away for a few months riding and chilling at the UK trails and parks. All the best Mcbill. Savage will be handling operations for Cape Direct BMX while he`s away.

Phil sessioning his backyard mini, I'm sure he`s gonna miss it.

Sibankey and I spotted a pool in an abondoned house a few blocks from home a few weeks ago, and today we decided to stop and check it out. Wow a tranny-queens dream! The pool was relatively clean and very dry (Durban hasn't had much rain lately) Two flatlanders feel kinda out of place at a pool- but I aint scared of a little tranny!

We discovered this beut today.

If you in the mood for some reading....Redbulls' Backyard Build-off DVD`s will be arriving really soon. Check out the report on BMX Online.

The Vodacom BMX Day at the Durban Beach Park is actually on Saturday and not Friday as I thought. So remind Mom to get you to the park on Saturday morning bright and early.

Matt Mcloed sent an email letting me know that he got 2nd place at the Urban Games in London last week, well done Matt. The BMX Masters go down in Germany in about 3 weeks time, Matt has already registered to enter that one too. I`ll keep you posted on that one.

We say goodbye to Team rider Malcolm Peters this week, he`s been with us for a good while and has decided to move on. Fare thee well my son.

In a little web related news FatBMX interviewed Leland from Shitluck Clothing, yeah we got a little mention as the Distro(thanks Leland!), but Leland has some interesting shit to say. Find out why it all started.

Vodacom hosted a Best Trick contest at Durbans Concrete park yesterday afternoon, I headed down with Cameron, Wesley, Stuart and Darren to check it out, traffic was pretty nuts, but we made it just in time. When we arrived there were quite a few riders "warming up". The Comp was really mellow, no serious judging or pressure. Prize cash was a thousand bucks compliments of Vodacom. Jimmy Reynolds took the win with a tailwhip out of the park onto the grass bank.
This coming Friday Saturday is schedualed to be an ALL DAY BMX day at the concrete park, Get there if you can, there are going to be quite a few riders at the park all day.

As promised here are some photo`s and more details from the Fox Pro Am contest from the weekend.
Kyle Oostuyzen was ripping it up in the Am finals on Sunday! Kyle, who placed first, was putting down some Pro level stuff that will probably put him in the Pro class at the next major contest...but he was not the only one with some big tricks; young Stu Loudon was looking quite comfortable on his hometurf at Gateway, Stuart placed 2nd. Justin Boniface placed 3rd and Im sure the judges had a hardtime scoring these guys.
Kyle Oostuyzen, rockstar in the making. - Justin Boniface; clicked turn down over the box.

Cameron with the downside whip. - Stuart Loudon not far behind big bro Colin Loudon. Look out Colin, Stu`s on the come up.

Jordan Anthony nose dive 360. - Kyle Oostuyzen, whip.

The Pro class was pretty intense to say the least. Riders were placed in groups of 2 to battle it out in the blazing hit sun, the vibe was great and the beer flowing.
Some of the highlights of the Pro class: Malcolm Peters' DOUBLE WHIP to flair, Buddy Chellan attempted a downside whip over the channel to the flatbank, he just about stuck it, Tyrone pulled that over 5050 grind on the flat rail, Greg Illingworth's whip to 5050 grind was just nuts, Brad Illingworth pretty much took himself out on an attempted (huge) gap to ice pick grind. Jaque and Paul were flowing with tech stuff all over the park.

Greg won the Time trial challenge, getting the fastest time around the snakerun. Riders had to qualify under 16 seconds. I hear it was a tretty close call.

Buddy downside the channel - Malcolm One footer table
Paul shoulder buzzin tables - Jaque Fourie, Look back

Malcolm, whip at 6ft - Tyrone Bradley

Buddy Fufanu on the sub - Greg on his "time trial" run

Today the qualifying runs of the Fox Pro Am contest went down at Gateway. It was a ridiculously hot day out on the ramps, allot of the riders were taking strain through out the day from the heat; but what a nice day it was!
The Amateur group did not have as many rider's as what i was expecting to see, but there was a good spread of riders from all over the country; Pretoria, Toti, Richards Bay, Joburg and of course Durban locals were in the house too. I did not manage to ge any pics from the Am riders as my camera frizzed out a few times and decided to shoot grey fuzzy pudding...the Am's are pushing the level to other levels this year.
Devin Toselli took a bad knock to the nut during his run and couldn't figure out where he was, i think he was carried off with a mild concussion, young Darren van wyk went down in the second round with a busted wrist, but he soon kicked back with a grin and bragging session on MIXT. He will be out for a good few weeks so i guess a get well soon is in order.

The Pro's...well you know how it goes; its gets bigger and badder every contest. It was off the hook today; Malcolm Peters just coming short with the double whip to the pedals, Chris Barnes' crazy smooth 270 bar spin and manual to whip lines, Jaque Fourie's tables and look-back so stretched, Ty Bradleys over 5050 grind. Gotta love Durban in the winter just look at that sky! Tomorrow is only going to get better...

Chris Barnes - putting down
the 270 barspin like it nothin.
- Jaque Fourie, downside table. J said wasn't even trying and he put down some great tricks
Malcom Peters, whipping the quarter. Mal attempted the double whip and came so close but lost the pedals on the landing. - Buddy Chellan, Ice pick stall. Buddy probably has the tightest tights in the bizinz.

Tyrone Bradley - over five-0
grind.
- Greg Illingworth, big air out the 8ft.
Malcolm Peters, HUGE no foot
can over the box.

- Most the Pro riders hit the snake run for a "time trail" to see who could get round in the fastest time. I hear Tyrone has it down at around 13sec.

Coincidence? T'nez has a dog with the same name as my mutt; Chino, Although my Ccino is spelt slightly different and are different pooch`s i just thought i would share that with you. Oh and there's Orchid and Little Devil video links for your video Ipod over here.
wussup dog?
