Last weekend saw the 2nd S.A BMX Racing Finals for the year at the Queensburgh BMX race track here in Durban. I was there punting some race goods and chatting with the local speed freeks.
A pretty good turn out and some exciting gates for sure. There was some very stiff competition in the Pro Class between Jonathan Chisslett and Gavin Lubbe. Gavin has been living and training in Florida, USA for the last 2 years. He sure did give Jonathan run for his money at this years Nationals, allot of riders were saying its needed from time to time to stir things up.
2 of S.A's other top gun racing boys Dean Holdstock and Sifiso Nhlapo are over in Switzerland right now attending the UCI training camps. Sifiso currently holds the South African number 1 title. He's rocking out for BMX Direct/S&M Bikes this year!
If you get a chance stop by one of the many BMX tracks around S.A and peep a race or two. More info on the S.A BMX racing scene in here.

lil' Team licks...Jeff dropped me quick line and a photo, says he's just about ready for another trip to Durban, says August is looking good.
Phil built up a Hawk temporarily over the weekend whilst he was waiting for his new custom Series 3 to arrive. Phil has been busy sessioning the demo scene lately and has built himself a awesome 'rig'
Jacques has moved into a huge spot with an empty pool, Jacques reckons he got mad plans for a mini-ramp joined to the empty pool in his yard...what a setup that would be...
Ross, Roscoe and James and the P. E crew will be up in George this weekend for the George comp.
The rest of us are just chilling easy here on the East Coast. Ashley made a brief appearance in the local paper. Yup Ash is on the flow team now too.

This Fit Series 3 is HOT! Blaze Ballantyne recently overhauled his ride with some fresh paint and fresh parts. We like! Blaze should be back on his bike and shredding real soon. I'm sure there will be photo's to prove! (Blaze is still recovering from a busted ankle) Clicky for a close up. I don't have a parts list on this one but I'm sure you can make out just fine.

This coming Saturday the 14th Skatelab is hosting a BMX contest at their park in George.
There seems to be allot of noise around this comp. it sure sounds like it is going to be a busy one. Phil is driving up with a bunch of the Cape Town crew, he will be helping out with prizes and what not. BMX Direct is supplying goodies for this one, so you know its gonna be good. Ever been to a foam pit? Neither had we till today. We missioned to Brett's place in Petermaritzburg this afternoon and the boys spent a couple hours throwing themselves into a 6 foot deep 10 foot long pit of foam and mattresses. The sun was sinking pretty fast so everyone was pretty amped to get things going. It was quite dark by the time the camera came out, here's a few pics...Chris insanely high back flips. Colin front flip. Stuart clean 720s. The killer pug.

Hittin you with a bunch of photo's to get July into full swing! The BMX Direct crew had an awesome all day session at Gateway today. The weather turned out pretty good (although it was quite windy), but we had a great session. Chris Barnes, Darren van Wyk, Stu Loudon, friends Wesley, Rico, Travis, Ashley. Paul Brusser and friend- from Cape Town all rode the Mini ramp all afternoon. Enjoy!
