Primo Remix axle conversion

Female axle conversion

Not enough of you have seen this yet, getting a bunch of calls about “How to’s”… So, you have just bought yourself a Female axle conversion kit and have no idea how to set it up. Here is how you switch out your old axle to a Female type axle.

This guide should work for Primo Remix hubs, Animal Javelin hubs and most other cassette hub conversions.

Step 1. Secure the hub to a bench vice.

Step 2: Loosen and remove all the nuts, washers and the lock nuts on both ends of the axle.

Step 3: Gently pull the driver out, be sure not to loose any of the snall parts. Your hub should look something like this.

Step 4: Now screw a axle nut to the end of the axle like this. This will protect the threads and the axle when knocking the axle through.

Step 5: Place the hub gently on a firm surface where you can apply some force to it without damaging the hub shell.

Step 6: Gently but firmly tap the axle nut with a rubber or wooden hammer. The axle should slide out with bearings attached like this. Do the same on both ends of the axle.

Step 7: Grab your new female axle, slide the bearings onto the one side…

Step 8: Place it in the hub shell like this.

Step 9: Use an old seat post, aluminum rod or similar to gently tap the bearings into the hub shell.

Step 10: Apply to both sides. Be gentle and be sure not to damage the bearing seals or the hub shell. Usually very little force is needed.

Step 11: Reinsert the driver. Then thread the lock nuts back into place and tighten everything up nice and snug.

Step 12: Your good to go. Well done.
